PossAbilities heads to London in search of top award

Heywood based social enterprise, PossAbilities has been shortlisted for a top award by Social Enterprise UK.

After a barnstorming year, which has included a CQC Outstanding rating, it seemed like things couldn’t get better, but they did. The local firm have grabbed £7.1 million in new contracts; built the £150,000 Cherwell Wellbeiing Garden & Farm; been awarded £267,000 by the Big Lottery Fund; launched a new Homeshare scheme; and a whole lot more.

Now they are one of only six organisations shortlisted for the Social Enterprise of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at London’s Grand Connaught Rooms in a special ceremony on 28th November.

PossAbilities Chief Executive Rachel Law said “To be on the shortlist is amazing. We are only two years old, yet the things we are achieving on a consistent basis are a credit to all of our staff. Each year some 300 companies vie for this award so to be in the final six is a real accolade – win or lose. We hope to win, but if somebody else does, then we know that they must be very, very good, and it will just inspire us to get better”.
